Next BOD Meeting:

KGM BOD Members are reminded that the next KGM BOD meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m., Monday 27 September, at the Regus Business Centre, 39/F One Pacific Place, Admiralty (not at the Holiday Inn).

For BOD members who tend to get lost in their own bathrooms, our old mate IPP Patricia "Iron Lady" Blair has kindly provided the following instructions:

Leave the MTR at Admiralty via the Pacific Place exit. This brings you out to the basement of Pacific Place One (next to La Cite and Thai Basil restaurants). Take the lift immediately in front of you all the way up to the 4th floor. This brings you out in front of the office block for Pacific Place One. You need to take the office building lift to the 39th floor. On arrival, spin around clockwise three times, quietly utter the perimeter password "JABERWOCKY", then Moonwalk into the meeting room.

If you can't attend and haven't already advised President Silva "Dollar" Yeung on 9408 1198 or Secretary Mazhar "Bizarre" Sultana on 9303 8881, call them.

Rotary Information:

The International Assembly: An International Assembly is held each year prior to 15 February to prepare district governors-elect from around the world for the office they will assume on 1 July. Accompanied by their spouses, some 530 incoming governors join a host of experienced Rotarian leaders for a week of training and motivational sessions. At the assembly, they meet the special Rotarian who will serve as RI president during their year as governors, and they learn the RI theme for the coming year, around which they will build their district’s activities.

The first International Assembly was held in Chicago, Illinois, USA, in 1919. Later assemblies were held in Lake Placid, New York, USA; Kansas City, Missouri, USA; Boca Raton, Florida, USA; and Nashville, Tennessee, USA. In recent years the assembly has been held in Anaheim, California, USA. But regardless of the venue, the message on the sign above the plenary hall has remained unchanged for years:

“Enter to learn…go forth to serve.”.

Golden Smile:

A Minister decided that a visual demonstration would add emphasis to his Sunday Sermon. He placed four worms into four separate jars. The first worm was put into a jar of alcohol. The second worm was put into a jar of cigarette smoke. The third worm was put into a jar of sperm. The fourth worm was put into a jar of clean soil.

At the conclusion of his Sermon, the Minister reported the following results:

The worm in the alcohol was dead.
The worm in the cigarette smoke was dead.
The worm in the sperm was dead.
The worm in the clean soil was alive and well.

The Minister then asked the congregation - "What can you learn from this demonstration?

A little old woman in the back quickly raised her hand and said; "As long as you drink, smoke and have sex, you won't have worms?"

Quotable Quotes:

"The grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for".
