Next BOD Meeting - TONIGHT:

KGM BOD Members are reminded that the next KGM BOD meeting will be held tonight at 6:30 p.m., Monday 27 September, at the Regus Business Centre, 39/F One Pacific Place, Admiralty (not at the Holiday Inn).

For BOD members who tend to get lost in their own bathrooms, our old mate IPP Patricia "Iron Lady" Blair has kindly provided the following instructions:

Leave the MTR at Admiralty via the Pacific Place exit. This brings you out to the basement of Pacific Place One (next to La Cite and Thai Basil restaurants). Take the lift immediately in front of you all the way up to the 4th floor. This brings you out in front of the office block for Pacific Place One. You need to take the office building lift to the 39th floor.

On arrival, spin around clockwise three times, quietly utter the perimeter password "JABERWOCKY", then Moonwalk into the meeting room.

If you can't attend call President Silva "Dollar" Yeung on 9408 1198 or Secretary Mazhar "Bizarre" Sultana on 9303 8881NOW.

Attendance:

KGM Attendance Director Clarissa "Ring My" Bellstedt reminds members that it's not much use if you do a make-up and don't bother telling her. Moreover, she is not very pleased that our recent attendance has been hovering at the 59% mark, which is slightly shy of the minimum.

Now since Clarissa is a German lass, we don't want to upset her, now do we? You have been warned.

Make-Ups can be reported to her through the KGM website or by sending her an email.

Fund-Raising:

Our old mate and fitness guru Susie "Madam Lash" Misini, advises that she has entered the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon, an event which covers a distance of 42km which takes place on Sunday 10 October 2004.

This will be Susie's 7th marathon, and it's also the 2nd marathon where she will be running to raise money for KGM's Community Service Fund. KGM members interested in sponsoring Susie should make their pledges by email. As a sponsorship incentive, the following bonuses will be awarded:

No sponsorship: A severe spanking, but not in a fun way.

Up to $500: A sloppy kiss on the cheek.

$501 to $1,000: A sloppy kiss on the cheek and a light spanking (the way you really like it)

$1,001 to $2,000: An autographed photo of Susie wearing her "Xena, Princess Warrior" outfit (plus a light spanking)

$1 million or more: A weekend in Macau (plus multiple spankings, with feeling).

Rotary Information:

Every Rotarian, An Example To Youth: In 1949, the RI Board adopted the slogan "Every Rotarian an Example to Youth" as an expression of commitment to children and youth in each community in which Rotary clubs exist. Serving young people has long been an important part of the Rotary program.

Youth service projects take many forms around the world. Rotarians sponsor Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, athletic teams, centers for disabled children, school safety patrols, summer camps, orphanages, recreation areas, safe driving clinics, county fairs, child care centers, and children's hospitals. Many clubs provide vocational counseling, establish youth employment programs, and promote use of The 4-Way Test. Increasingly, drug/alcohol abuse prevention and AIDS awareness projects are being supported by Rotarians.

In every instance, Rotarians have an opportunity to be role models and mentors for the young people of their community. One learns to serve by observing others. As our youth grow to become adult leaders, it is hoped each will achieve that same desire and spirit to serve future generations.

The slogan accepted over 50 years ago is just as vital today.

Golden Smile:

A young woman discovered that her dog had hearing difficulties, so she took it to the veterinarian.

The vet found that the problem was excessive hair in the dog's ears, so he cleaned both ears and the dog could hear fine. The vet then advised the young woman that if she wanted to keep the problem from returning, she should buy some "Nair" hair remover and gently apply it to the dog's ears once a month. So the young woman went to her local pharmacy to buy some "Nair" hair remover.

At the register the pharmacist advised her: "If you're going to use this under your arms, don't use deodorant for a few days."

The young woman says "I'm not going to use it under my arms."

The pharmacist says: "OK, if you're using it on your legs, don't shave them for a few days."

The young woman, becoming impatient, says "I'm not using it on my legs either; if you really must know, I'm using it on my schnauzer."

To which the pharmacist replied: "In that case, don't ride a bicycle for at least a week."

Quotable Quotes:

"Apparently, a democracy is a place where numerous elections are held, at great cost, without issues, and with interchangeable candidates".

Gore Vidal
